British Journal of Photography’s Ones to Watch platform is an annual, global talent search, which launched back in 2011.

Welcome to the 11th edition of our annual talent search for Ones to Watch. This year, some 100 industry experts from our prestigious photography network, who are based all over the world, nominated over 500 names for the platform. We also welcome Simon Bainbridge, editor-in-chief of Magnum Photos and the former editorial director of British Journal of Photography, to guest-edit the final selection of our 15 Ones to Watch.

Our global search this year has resulted in 15 talents spread across five continents. From France and Ukraine, India, Sudan, Malaysia, Tunisia and the US. “Photography is alive and kicking in many, varied forms, from expanded practices incorporating new technologies,” says Bainbridge. “These days, photography is not so much a medium as a global language, used (and abused) on a scale previously unimaginable. The challenge of being seen has never been more keenly felt.”
