Two of our Ones to Watch, who have been nominated to take part in Futures festival, discuss their work, processes and the group event

Emerging photographers Ana Zibelnik and Michael Swann explore their latest projects in depth, including the inspirations behind them. In these works, both Zibelnik and Swann have focused on universal topics such as death, faith and religion.

Discussing her series We are the ones turning, Zibelnik explains how she attempted to visualise death, why the topic interested her, and why repetition was important. Meanwhile, Swann presents his project Noema, explaining the origin of the title, why he chose Spain and Bosnia and Herzegovina as the locations for it, and how his study of the topic was informed by his personal relationship with faith and religion. The pair also reveal what they’ve been up to during lockdown and their plans for future projects.
