The fourth edition of Guernsey Photography Festival kicks off this weekend with a packed programme of talks, tours, workshops, portfolio reviews, film screenings and exhibitions that continue across the next month.

Taking ‘Faith, Family, and Community’ as its theme, the festival features a range of talks scheduled for today and tomorrow (Friday 19 and Saturday 20 September).

On the Friday, photography archivist Gareth Syvret will be discussing the role of the archive in contemporary photography, while Michelle Sank, David Moore, Greg Hobson and Jason Wilde will discuss recent personal projects. Other speakers taking part in talks across the opening weekend include: Arno Brignon, Michele Palazzi, Dana de Luca, among others.

BJP’s senior reporter Gemma Padley will be in Guernsey for the opening weekend, and will be taking part in a talk with photographers Massimiliano Gatti, Alfonso Amendros, Inaki Domingo, and Andrei Nacu on Saturday 20 September.

Now a bi-annual festival, the 2014 edition features exhibitions by photographers including: Broomberg and Chanarin, Abbas, Jason Larkin, Michelle Sank, Elinor Carucci, Nick Ballon, Mateusz Sarello, and David Moore among many others.
