Magnum Photos has partnered with The Photography Show to launch its 30 Under 30 competition, which is aimed at “identifying some of the world’s best emerging documentary photographers”.

Organised in association with IdeasTap, an online platform for young artists, the competition is open to all photographers worldwide aged between 18 and 30. “Entrants are invited to submit five documentary photographs from a narrative project,” say the organisers. “The judging panel will be looking for a clear storyline, technique, execution, concept, originality and the ability to successfully communicate their project.”

The deadline for entries is 12 January. The judges, who include Magnum photographers David Hurn and Alex Webb, as well as Max Houghton, senior lecturer in photography at London College of Communications, and BJP‘s associate editor Olivier Laurent, will shortlist 60 entrants, and the final 30 will be officially unveiled at The Photography Show in Birmingham on 04 March.

The winners will participate in an exclusive 30 Under 30 Portfolio Review event, attended by leading professionals from the editorial, commercial, gallery and publishing sectors.
