In this online event, Grant talks us through Overview, the photography project hoping to reshape how we view the world around us.

Interviewed by 1854 Media’s Zoe Harrison, photographer and the Overview creator  Benjamin Grant explores the project, as well as the possibilities for change due to the overview effect. Inspired by astronauts’ accounts of the planet’s surface, the overview effect describes the new perspectives and understandings made possible by seeing the earth from above. Overview began as an instagram page, posting daily shots of the planet from the atmosphere. With a dedicated collection of satellite and aerial devices, the team is able to capture the planet from different angles, helping us visualise our place on the planet in new ways.

While discussing inspirations and aspirations for the project, Grant hopes to blend abstract and documentary to help us understand the world around us, and help fight against climate change.
