Witnesses of: The Everyday is the first theme of the new Leica x 1854 Commission Series, a new collaboration by 1854 and the historic camera brand Leica.
Once a month from March – May 2021, one photographer will be awarded a £5000 commission fee to create their unique body of work centered around a new theme, and a place on the new and lucrative Leica Lab.
This commission is exclusive to 1854 Access Members.
We are all witness to moments of beauty – ones that emerge suddenly and pass fleetingly through our daily lives. But how do you capture them? And how do you make the ordinary, extraordinary?
The Commission:
In collaboration with 1854, Leica is offering photographers the chance to create new bodies of work using Leica’s industry-leading equipment. Introducing the first new theme in the Leica x 1854 Commission Series, Witnesses of: The Everyday.
The winner of the commission will secure a place on the new Leica Lab programme – one of the world’s leading online educational courses for developing photographers – along with a £5000 commission fee.
What do you have to say about the everyday?
The Process
Photographers are asked to submit 10 images and 100-word proposal for the consideration of the judges. Documentary proposals and more creative or interpretive approaches will all be considered.
One photographer will be awarded a £5000 commission fee and a place on the lucrative Leica Lab to create their unique body of work.
