1854 Media is seeking a Marketing Manager

Role: Permanent, London-based

Salary Range: £35k-£40k depending on experience

1854 Media, publisher of British Journal of Photography, is looking for a full-time Marketing Manager to join the team. The ideal candidate will be an analytical, creative, data-driven, and detail-oriented marketing or growth manager with a keen desire to help optimise the world’s oldest continually printed photography publication for the digital space. They will look at every day with an open mind to adapt and respond to what’s working, where we can improve, and how we can provide an outstanding experience to all of our customers and followers.

Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for data analysis, optimising landing pages, conversion funnels and other customer journey elements, running Facebook and other paid ad campaigns, CRM workflows to offer our photography audience continued value, and contribute to growing our platform’s engagement and revenue. This role will adapt daily, relying on frequent testing and evaluation to ensure targets are both met and exceeded. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop new strategies and online editorial distribution optimisation in order to nurture share of voice and average online readership both within the UK and internationally. 
  • Work alongside the digital marketing manager to deploy engagement-focused social media strategy. 
  • Analytically track campaign performance and establish recommendations based on KPI-targeting optimisations.
  • Overview partnership management and commitment fulfilment.
  • Research and propose new partnerships with a focus on new audience growth. 
  • Develop expansive automation strategy based on persona engagement triggers. 
  • Ensure brand impact throughout annual programme of events

About You: 

  • Strong data, reasoning and analytical skills are essential
  • 4+ years experience in digital marketing management
    • Experience within a media/creative industry (ideal)
  • Proven track record creating and overseeing all aspects of digital campaigns, including social media (organic and paid), email campaigns, and website management 
  • Expert in Google Analytics (inc. Google Tag Manager) Excel and analytics functions with social platforms (Facebook/Insta)
  • Experience in data visualisation and data visualisation tools like Google Data Studio or Tableau etc
  • Experience automating data reporting across different parts of a marketing stack that incorporates a CRM preferred
  • Good knowledge of or demonstrable interest in SEO, social media and web publishing
  • University degree in Marketing or Mathematics/Computer Science or related field (ideal)
  • Experience managing a team
  • Self-motivated/ critical thinker / willingness to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
  • Experience of working under pressure and adapting to rapidly changing circumstances    
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and management levels
