This special magazine is the culmination of an exhaustive nomination process in which photography experts including Amak Mahmoodian, Kalpesh Lathigra and Jörg Colberg submitted hundreds of worthy image-makers. The 15 selected are each profiled and have their work published in this issue, the 14th iteration of Ones to Watch.

“From war to social unrest, homophobic attacks to public exclusion, some of this year’s Ones to Watch have faced difficult experiences. Others have a fine radar for wider themes, the ways in which patriarchy moulds both men and women, or in which migration impacts individuals and communities. But all have transmuted these experiences into art and images, exploring issues beyond words via photography and sometimes other media too.”
– Diane Smyth, Editor at British Journal of Photography
